Peter Brüning, a teacher of free painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy since 1969, achieved international renown early on as one of the pioneers of German Informel. Drawing occupies a special place in his oeuvre, as it was in this medium that he was able to confront central artistic ideas and problem-solving in an unbiased manner. This color palette, dominated in 1958 by the color triad of white, black and red, together with the energetic brushwork, brings out the intensity inherent in this untitled mixed media work even more distinctly.
