Text: "I was unhappy when I arrived a few minutes later (crossed out and illegibly overwritten: 'later') ... arrived here and could no longer shake hands with your and your most honored wife ... could greet you both most cordially. What a pity. It was agreed that you should take a modest drawing of me with you. My wife (deleted and overwritten: 'was delighted') is very taken with your wife. From both of us your H." verso text under drawing: "The package has arrived. We are delighted by your kindness. It is worth the effort to reach 70 years of age, when after a happy life, in return for being able to assert one's own life, one experiences so much and so many good things. The heart must overflow with joy, and gratitude wells up in a previously undreamed-of form as a strange thing that fills a person, (deleted and underlined: 'without just being there') and one enjoys the soul of real friends that flows towards one, detached from the mind".
