"The inspector" crouches in a niche in the wall and draws with his finger in what appears to be freshly applied paint on the wall - only to promptly destroy the application. The viewer, who - in contrast to the inspector - sees more than is possible for him, will tend to think that the circular areas of paint at the top and the colored wooden sticks at the bottom should be objects of examination, since they eke out an absolutely purposeless existence. In short, we are puzzled as to what the tester is actually testing - if it was to check the drying of the paint, this would have been thoroughly missed. Logically, one does not come any closer to the question, and the title at best inspires the dubiousness of the question of testing or the (close) testability of what is to be seen: probably a quantity of color circles, a quantity of wooden sticks, but as a result of this dubious quantity doctrine, the pitfall remains of wanting to compare or test what has nothing at all to do with each other.
