The textile artist Lisbeth Bissier was inspired by her husband's motifs and often knotted carpets based on his designs. Through the fundamentally different technique of weaving art compared to the Eiöltempera, she found her way to independent works, which not least ensured the livelihood of the family: Julius Bissier's breakthrough came only through a retrospective exhibition in Hanover in 1958. While his delicate works are characterized by a lyrical lightness, the pictorial effect of her carpets was closer to the aesthetics of the Bauhaus, which was pioneering in this technique.
