Martin Klimas uses a special technique that allows him to shoot a vase within a 7000th of a second and at the same time photograph the cut flowers in their full glory. The artist plays here with the vanitas idea in the genre of still life as well as with the cryptic phrase of the snapshot when describing the photographer's craft. With his high-speed photography, he brings extreme movement and absolute stillness together. The subject is in darkness when the shot is taken - only with the shot is a flash of light also triggered, showing the flower(s) in all their glory at the moment of their symbolic destruction.
