The painter Ralph Fleck, born in 1951 in Freiburg i. Br., works as a former master student of Peter Dreher at least since the 1980s with picture series that make his signature unmistakable. In addition, he is one of the innovators of painting, which, following the great period of modernism of import and expressionism, emphasizes the sensuality and independence of a pure peinture. The variety of themes in the work of Ralph Fleck is enormous. He treads a very unique path with his cityscapes, which put the metropolises of Europe into the picture from above and, independent of tourist points of view, stage them solely through painterly means. In the field of landscape painting, Fleck concentrates on seascapes and pictures of the Alps, which, far from superficial whitewashing, also live out their painterly expression in the rush of movement of clouds and wafts of fog, spray and surf - ultimately everything is color, which in the close-up view prove to be symphonic-gestural abstractions and in the distant view show an almost photographic view. Other series deal with facade and book motifs, crowds of people, and mountains of trash - either in structural paintings that create order in the chaos of being or, conversely, reveal impetuous brushwork behind ordered forms. The immediacy of the representations demands full attention, which will not escape the magic of the painterly quality and its unconditionality.
