Wilhelm Loth / Strong women

"What do I want to show? What man looks like? No. How he is!"
(Wilhelm Loth)

Parallel to the Stuttgart branch of our gallery, we show at this point the exhibition "Strong Women" with sculptures, drawings and photographs of the artist Wilhelm Loth (1920-1993).
Like hardly any other sculptor of his generation, Loth focused on the creative examination of the human image, especially the increasingly stylized female nude as a torso. His innovative artistic power let him again and again find new independent formulations of this motif and is a sign of his admiration and interpretation of the woman as a guarantor of vitality., love, fertility and survival of mankind. For almost three decades, Wilhelm Loth influenced the fortunes of the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe as a co-founder of the "New Figuration" and taught renowned artists such as Franz Bernhard, Robert Schad and Elisabeth Wagner.

His artistic work is versatile and includes sculptural works as well as paintings, drawings, photographs and prints. In our ONLINE exhibition we present works from the period between 1949 to 1991.

The exhibits of the ONLINE exhibition are provided with detailed information about the works and literature. By clicking on the image you will get an enlarged view. When visiting our virtual exhibition, we wish you much pleasure.
