Artist spaces I

The group show "Artist Spaces I" is the prelude to a new exhibition series in our gallery at Dätzingen Castle. Taking into account various aspects, room by room groups of works by different artists are presented, within which exciting dialogues and points of connection arise.

Thus it becomes evident how the painters Jakob Bräckle (1897-1987), Hans Fähnle (1903-1968) and Paul Kleinschmidt (1883-1949) succeed in capturing atmospheric moods in their landscapes and still lifes through their distinctive painterly handwriting.
The drawings of Romane Holderried-Kaesdorf (1922-2007), in comparison to the iconic, world-view transfiguring depictions of her husband Julius Kaesdorf (1914-1993), are characterized by a pointed irony that often only becomes apparent at second glance. Seemingly trivial subjects expose themselves as criticism of the prevailing conditions in society and politics.
The poetic power of the material unfolds both in the sculptures of Jürgen Brodwolf (*1932) and in the assemblages of the object artist Heinz E. Hirscher (1927-2011). Hirscher's material collages, imaginatively created from found objects, are juxtaposed with Brodwolf's existential art figures inspired by squeezed tubes of paint.
For the visitor interested in background information, the exhibition opens up further complex cross-connections. The works of the artist couple Romane Holderried-Kaesdorf and Julius Kaesdorf, for example, come from the estate of Heinz E. Hirscher, who in turn was a passionate Bräckle collector and also held Jürgen Brodwolf in particularly high esteem.
