The "Hommage à Caspar David Friedrich" was created for the 6th Biennale of the Baltic States in Rostock in 1975. It shows a ruin that can be found in Friedrich's symbolic "Abbey in the Eichwald" from 1809/10 and as a quotation also in the "Monastery Cemetery in the Snow" - the Romantic painter had been inspired by the Eldena monastery ruin, but without depicting it concretely. Grieshaber sets the ruin piece in strong blue absolutely, that is, it occupies the full width meaningfully, while the landscape is at best indicated by the yellow-green-red color settings above the ruin.
