Peter Sehringer's "2nd last poppy" belongs to a series of poppy paintings that the painter has created in recent years. Unlike earlier flower series, the poppy motifs are not painted on a wooden panel - in the for Sehringer singular incrustation technique - , but on acrylic glass, which is deliberately used in its transparency. In both cases monumental in scale, the lyrical hues dominate here. Thanks to his elaborate use of stencils, the artist succeeds in creating an enchanting, independent presence of each individual blossom. At the same time, the stems, which find their way into a playful weave, together with the transparent empty spaces as well as the placed lights and shadings on the blossoms, create a slightly buoyant spatiality. The loose but precisely calculated composition also gives the painting an airy sense of movement.
