In his works, Peter Sehringer draws on traditional subjects such as still life, animal and landscape painting, and figure painting, but transports his motifs into the visual world in radicalized, concentrated form, thus questioning their validity in the media age of the 21st century. Animals are among the recurring motifs in the work, mostly also in series. The giraffe painting, however, is unprecedented in the series of animal paintings. Here, four giraffes are now stalking to the right in front of a clear blue background. They are precisely observed - in their sequence of movements of elegance and the daring attempt to maintain posture. The immediate realism is overwhelming, but just as fascinating is the decorative effect of the schematized fur structure - an aesthetic play of linear and two-dimensional structures.
