The egg oil tempera work consisting of color pigments, poppy seed oil and egg white under the title-giving date "19. III. 56" belongs to the highlights in the artistic work of Julius Bissier. On view are various forms reduced to a restrained color spectrum - in addition to the striking red triangular shape - that oscillate between organic and geometric formulations, rectangular bodies and vessels, between letters and characters. The dynamism and apparent flexibility of the figurations and the contemplative mood of the composition contrast, enhancing the expressive power. All elements of the sheet are kept in balance: the moving and the static, the introverted and the extroverted, the playful and the meditative, tension and tranquility, isolation and security. Despite its restrained colorfulness, the painting possesses enormous luminosity and exudes a sensual aura - the perhaps inverted red chalice with the tentacle-like "legs," which could be thought of further as a gliding, floating dance figure, even betrays a portion of light-footed wit. The indefinable, elongated figure at the front left edge of the picture as well as the linear structure resembling a turnstile in the right color field ensemble give the picture a spatial orientation.
