In the more recent "Chrysanthemum" series from 2013, Luzia Simons shows, in addition to her tulip motifs, another example where the flower appears as an ambassador in the "transfer through different cultures" (L. S.): In Europe rather inconspicuous, the many-leaved chrysanthemum advanced in the East Asian cultural area to the imperial national flower with a luxuriant symbol and shape abundance: multicolored in the different species (there are more than 40, also genus-spanning species), it stands once for longevity and eternal love, sometimes for modesty, reflection and courage, as an expression of dignity and autumn. After its introduction to the West during the 17th century, the meaning changed from virtuous autumn to end-of-life with the hope of love beyond death. Originating from Japan, the handmade paper is made of bamboo fiber and environmentally friendly washi raw material.
