Hans Peter Reuter's dominant themes are perspective-based space, structure, and light in combination with ultramarine blue color as the dominant pictorial medium, the exclusive use of which earned him the nickname "the blue Reuter." Beyond the startlingly pretending, even irritating effect, his object-like works are characterized by an aesthetic order based on the color blue. His work is located between construction, hyperrealism and op(tical) art. The "Blue Poem" from 2011 provides a wonderful insight into how Reuter materializes his artistic concerns through his basic principles, which are reduced to the essential, but nevertheless tireless in their richness of variation. The apparent chaos of various small blue rectangular formations, which confront us in their full luminosity, is brought into an amorphous order, which fascinates in its overall appearance by the highly harmonious effect.
