One may imagine Peter Sehringer's pictorial world very concretely, as here in the four-part series of "Ficus Carica". It is a peculiarity in the work of this artist: for all his formal simplification, he captures the reality of the appearance with an almost meticulous attention to detail, as can be seen very well in the veining of the leaves. We can take the fig leaves profanely or symbolically: thanks to the large leaves, the tree is the epitome of the shade-giver under the southern sun. On the other hand, it refers to the expulsion from paradise, which, as we know, was accompanied by the covering of shame by the fig leaf. The milky white acrylic glass picks up on both - light flashing through the green and a sign of innocence in the biblical sense. Formally, the work fascinates through the play of different surfaces and linear structures.
