Jürgen Brodwolf, who initially worked as an informal painter and restorer, devoted himself to sculptural design language from the end of the 1950s and is one of the most important representatives of figurative art. Brodwolf's independently formed sculptural principle develops beyond traditional material and form. Brodwolf conceives of his tube figure, developed in 1959, as a sculptural form that can be altered in a way that makes the spiritual and mental states of human existence perceptible. The concentrated and poetic power of Brodwolf's pictorial works is deeply touching. Since 2005, the sculptor has been intensively engaged in metal casting. This torso was created in 2011 and, despite its resistant material, subtly announces the vulnerability, the fragility and the being at the mercy of the human in an unjust world.
