Ralph Fleck's works are visual intrusions into the moment: This is probably how someone paints who enjoys every moment to the fullest. Narrative motifs are completely alien to him, they would last too long. Motifs themselves are not essential to him, although he is anything but an abstract painter. On the contrary, he is notoriously representational. All these contradictions live in this color-saturated painting. And when the viewer, fascinated, hails the alpine, the flower, the field, the sea, the steak or the city or battle scene or whatever - the range is inexhaustible - the painting virtually screams at us: Color, color, color! There is hardly anyone who handles color more heartily and at the same time captures the sensual approach to the motif as real as Ralph Fleck. The close-up distance of the motif, however, lustfully contradicts any naturalism.
