Thomas Deyle's paintings, flooded with light, suspend the laws of perception. To believe that his paintings are backlit is a fallacy. And the attempt to photograph the experience, even to capture it, is quickly disappointed - what attracts us auratically is the pure color in a contourless state of suspension. As a conductor's son who wanted to become a musician himself, he uses his synesthetic talent to transform sounds into color sounds. In doing so, he always starts from actual impressions - the iridescence of a beetle, the color gradient of a flower, a blooming volcanic landscape, and so on. The titles of the pictures are only trace elements, references to musicians, artists, light phenomena. Astronomers used to be called "light interpreters". Thomas Deyle is on their trail, in the aura of his color world, which only becomes visible through the light.
