Robert Schad is one of the most internationally renowned steel sculptors of the present day. His work has a superlative presence in France, Portugal and Germany in particular: his supra-regional exhibitions in Upper Swabia (2019) and in Bourgogne-France-Comté (2021) have enchanted entire regions, his crucifix (2007) in the pilgrimage square of the Santuário de Fátima in Portugal is one of the tallest at 34 m high, and his "Stuttgart Way" (1986/87) between the parliament building and the House of Representatives in Stuttgart is one of the longest sculptures ever at 136 m long. The Stuttgart exhibition presents for the second time the work of the sculptor born in Ravensburg in 1953 - also as a celebration of his milestone birthday. The interior sculptures and large-format drawings are flanked by exterior sculptures in Dätzingen Castle - we thus also go to the region. In effect, Robert Schad's solid steel works move between linear signs and seemingly ballerina-light figures in space. That is why we have given this magnificent show the title "Robert Schad - Vom Tanz der Dinge" ("Robert Schad - The Dance of Things"). It now awaits the pas-de-deux with the viewer.
