The small-format series "Blacklist" from 2013 has - like the "Stockage" works - a concrete cultural-historical reference, both in its recourse to the Dutch Baroque and to the migration theme. In the arrangement of the details and the neutral background, the filigree motifs seem like an homage to the naturalist and artist Maria Sibylla Merian (1647-1717), who moved from Frankfurt a. M. to Amsterdam. Luzia Simons recreates her filigree drawings of insects in terms of appearance and sense of order - but on closer inspection it is noticeable that she does this with flower petals and other plant parts, giving them a metamorphotic symbolism. The suggestive power lies in this alienation with an almost surreal attention to detail in all depths due to the scanning technique.
